The Newton County Historical Commission has been active through the years in publishing many phases of Newton County History. The work includes 5 published books and 25 in-house publications. All of the books are for sale to the public. The books are also on shelves in the Genealogical Division Lilbray for "on the premises" reading an research. The most recent Whispers of Newton County History, 1940-2000 became available for purchase on December 1, 2002. It pleases the members of the Commission to be able to share a portion of Newton County history with you.

The Wall of History is a monument located on the lawn of the Newton County courthouse. The Wall displays 110 photographs, 153 family histories, a gneral history of the county and a list of contributors. The information on the

Contains a history of the Tanner Cemetery, list of veterans and other leaders buried there, program for
